Welcome to the website for the Greene-Dreher Alumni Association. We welcome you to look around and learn and/or find information about a unique organization.
From the Informal local gathering at the GDVFA fire hall on Friday (June 12) to the Sunday brunch (June 14) with the Historical Society, all centennial events were a great success! We thank all those who participated! Good luck to the Class of 2015! We hope to see you all next year!
Saturday, June 14th, 2014 was when the 2014 banquet was held. For
the first time, we heard from a 50th Anniversary group that graduated
from Wallenpaupack High School. It was a great night!
HERE are the pictures from the 2014 Banquet. ENJOY!

Memories of Past Alumni Banquets contributed by Virginia Rohrbacker
I am not an alumnus of Greene Dreher, but in 1935 married one, Harold (Mush) Rohrbacker, who graduated in 1930. I’m sure I have been as active as any alumnus because of this. We also had three girls, Nancy, Sandy, and Bonnie, who graduated from Greene Dreher, so we were involved in most school activities. Last year, 2007, I was elected and became an Honorary Alumnus.
I have attended the banquets since the late 1930’s
A new brick auditorium was added to the old High School in 1937, the envy of all Wayne County and surrounding area. Honesdale’s activities were held in an armory, Cresco was like a swimming pool, and Hawley…I don’t remember. Shortly thereafter, the banquet was held in this new auditorium and was catered by the Home Ec girls and their teacher. Three Home Ec teachers I remember were Mary Hall, Florence Grim, and Mrs Paterson.
In later years it was moved up to the IOOF Hall (Odd Fellows Hall) at
the far south end of Newfoundland, and the Rebekahs prepared the meal.
Then, probably because the 18th amendment was
repealed, it was held where cocktails and beer were available.
That place was the beautiful White Beauty View, which has since
been demolished. As the
Association grew larger, we went to Paupack Hills.
It still grew larger, so Ehrhardts’s On The Lake accommodated us.
It is really one of the most unique associations in the United States. Scholarships abound and friendships each June as Alumni gather from near and far.
Our goals are:
To perpetuate the memory of the Greene-Dreher School by providing a banquet that allows past graduates of the Greene-Dreher Sterling, Southern Wayne, Greene-Dreher, and Wallenpaupack Area School to reunite Annually.
To encourage higher education beyond high school with the awarding of scholarships to deserving graduating seniors of Greene or Dreher Township.
To encourage the members of this association to become involved in all areas of this organization.
Adopted April 2000
Amended May 2003
All meetings are at usually at the Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church. We welcome any new alumni volunteers who would like to help give back to a wonderful organization and community!
